The Lost Villa is a serene sanctuary nestled in the heart of an ancient jungle in Bali. It was born from the vision of experienced blogger Christian LeBlanc, who initiated the project. The six-bedroom house embodies his admiration for the island and the unique journey that led him there, reflecting his deep connection to the island.
"I used to be an accountant, working a regular nine-to-five job," he recounts. "I felt a lack of inspiration and creativity, and I had to escape."
In search of a different experience, he picked up a GoPro camera and committed to creating a video every day. After several years of wandering the world, Christian gradually settled in Bali, captivated by the powerful nature and energy of the place. He decided to fulfill a long-held dream – to build a home for himself.
The acquisition of the land on which The Lost Villa was built was a combination of luck and perseverance: "During COVID, I rode around on my motorcycle and asked locals if they or their families had land. After a few days, I found it – a wild jungle plot, which today is a true sanctuary with tall trees, some of which are over 100 years old."
From there, he embarked on a process that spanned years, gradually building and developing The Lost Villa, piece by piece – until it became an extraordinary residence.

Blue and green everywhere

LeBlanc collaborated with the Romanian firm Singleart Design & Architecture to create an immersive and experiential design inspired by Bali's rich nature and local artistry. "It's all blue and green," he explains – from the infinity pool and volcanic stone koi pond, through a tall and impressive treehouse, to a rooftop garden brimming with bougainvillea flowers.
LeBlanc's neighbor, an expert craftsman, hand-carved doors, beams, and shelves from wood sourced from decommissioned boats, docks, and bridges. The space is complemented by carefully selected items – handmade rugs from Jakarta, custom-made coffee tables from Singleart, and hand-blown glass pendant light fixtures brought from Toronto – Christian's hometown.

AXOR: An Inspiring Match

Naturally, Kristian chose AXOR for the bathrooms in his personal project, which is so close to his heart.
When Blan first encountered AXOR at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, he was immediately captivated: "I thought to myself – this is Lost Villa. The designs felt as if they were born from the earth." The choice to integrate AXOR fittings throughout the entire home reflects his artistic interpretation.
An ensemble of AXOR fittings throughout the home reflects his artistic interpretation. In one corner, an AXOR Starck Organic floor-standing faucet for the bathtub accompanies a monolithic stone soaking tub, its sensuous form echoing the rich surrounding vegetation. In another corner, guests discover a hidden and secluded powder room, where deep green marble highlights the AXOR Starck V faucet in a brushed bronze finish, with its characteristic swirling vortex design.
Driven by a desire to ensure that each space had its own distinct color and material language – and its own unique story – Kristian utilized AXOR FinishPlus services to create matching finishes for each private bathroom, in harmony with its unique stone hues. In the main bathroom, elegant Italian marble is paired with faucets and accessories from the AXOR MyEdition collection in a Brushed Bronze finish, with a custom Black Walnut plate.
In another bedroom's bathroom, Iranian platinum-hued travertine is paired with an AXOR Uno basin mixer and AXOR Overhead Showers in a contrasting Brushed Black Chrome finish.

A break from the routine

For Kristjan, Axor's slogan, "AXOR - Escape the Ordinary," takes on a particularly personal meaning. "That's my whole story," he admits. "Leaving a 9-to-5 job and chasing a dream that no one really believed in at the time." Beyond being an impressive and alluring home, the Lost Villa is a unique monument to Kristjan's story – an inspiration for anyone who shares his love for hospitality and his worldview on design: "It's a feeling. You enter a space and it just feels right. When the details don't scream for attention, but you notice them nonetheless. When the space gets better with time. That's what we created."
