The Conrad: A Living Monument to the City of Angels

Conrad Los Angeles marks a new chapter in luxury hospitality in downtown Los Angeles—bold, expressive, and with a distinct Californian character. The hotel, the newest addition to Hilton's luxury hotel collection, is located in a twenty-story tower within the Grand LA complex—an impressive mixed-use urban project designed by the legendary architect Frank Gehry.
The project, described as "the most transformative development in Los Angeles," includes affordable housing, luxury rental apartments, and an extensive shopping complex, centrally located downtown opposite another Gehry-designed icon—the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Conrad Los Angeles features 305 guest rooms, five restaurants and bars, a rooftop pool, and a fitness center.

The interior design of the luxury resort was entrusted to none other than the London studio Tara Bernerd & Partners, which drew inspiration from and responded to the unique, captivating, and prominent architecture of Gehry Partners. This was alongside influences from the impressive tradition of the West Coast Modernism movement, with its holistic design approach and connections to nature, as well as from the architecture and culture of Downtown Los Angeles itself.

Perfect harmony

Throughout the lobby, the sculptural ceiling varies in height and undulates, echoing the rhythms of the facade. A rich palette of light-toned linens, combined with sophisticated blues, rich weaves, and touches of mustard yellow, complements the wide-plank light oak floors, polished concrete, and Ceppo stone.
The guest rooms and suites expand upon this palette through a combination of oak paneling, wide-plank light oak floors, and contemporary art, to express the epitome of modern Californian cool. Naturally, Tara Bernerd & Partners selected AXOR for the bathrooms of this urban oasis.

Timeless California Elegance with AXOR

Each guest bathroom is a restrained and serene composition of smoked glass, white marble, and charcoal accents. A diverse selection of AXOR items in a Brushed Black Chrome finish elevates the ambiance, with each composition tailored to the unique layout of each bathroom—and subtly echoing the sculptural precision of Gehry’s architecture.

In the basin area, a meticulous combination of organic AXOR Urquiola faucets and minimalist AXOR Citterio faucets welcomes guests. For the shower, Tara Bernerd & Partners chose a composition of collections that provide both modernist aesthetics and exceptional comfort: AXOR Starck, AXOR Citterio, and AXOR ShowerSolutions.

Beside the bathtub, guests can indulge in panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles with an impressive freestanding AXOR Massaud bath mixer—its unique waterfall-shaped water flow ideally complementing the terraced facade of the Walt Disney Concert Hall below.

A series of softly softsquare-shaped AXOR Universal Accessories unifies the space into a cohesive look.
